Dr. Evelyn Varner Whitehead, EdD, LPC, LSATP

TRAINER for the White Feather Historical and Educational Project

A Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner and owner of Progressive Counseling Associates, LLC., Evelyn is currently in private practice and provides clinical supervision for Residents in Counseling. She has training and certifications in suicide prevention, trauma, threat assessment, crisis response management, critical stress debriefing, behavior analysis, substance abuse, domestic and sexual violence and developmental disabilities. Evelyn is married to her college sweetheart, Brodie. They have two adult children and six grandchildren. She enjoys music, worship, church activities, and community service.

  • Appointed by Governor Northam to serve on the board for Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority 2020-2022.

  • Psychologist at Southside Virginia Training Center

  • Graduate practicum supervisor (clinical and health psychology, & counseling)

  • Clinician II at District 19 Community Services Board

  • Patient Access Counselor at Poplar Springs Hospital

  • Behavior Consultant in behavior analysis, Progressive Counseling Assoc.
